MANCHESTER COLLEGE - SCANNING

This page helps show some of the many uses for our scanner. Our client was provided with existing elevational drawings of a college in Manchester and hired us as part of a site regeneration scheme. We were in turn hired to update plans and produce new ones as appropriate. We started by using our Leica ScanStation 2 to produce a full point cloud of the entire site, accurately capturing the position of all buildings and ground works. The following video shows the raw pointcloud data of the buildings themselves.

The sheer quantity of data collected by laser scanning has several benefits over traditional methods. As you can see, the detail level is excellent. This allows us to ensure that nothing is missed in the survey. As the site is scanned in its entirety, it is often possible for us to produce additional work and answer client queries without the need for expensive site re-visits. As this method is faster and remote, there are less issues with restricted or unsafe site access.
